Your options

Refinish, reface or replace?

If your cabinet boxes are solid, refinishing is usually the fastest and most affordable way to a new look. Here’s how the three options generally compare.

Is it a good fit?

Refinishing works best when…

  • Your cabinet boxes are solid wood or plywood and in good shape
  • You like the layout and want to keep your countertops
  • You want a new color, a wood-tone refresh, or a two-tone kitchen
  • Your hardware is dated and you want an easy upgrade

Water damage, peeling laminate or broken boxes may need repairs first. Send us a photo and we’ll tell you what we see.

Questions

Cabinet refinishing FAQ

Will you replace my countertops or change the layout?

No. Refinishing keeps your cabinet boxes, countertops and layout exactly where they are. We change the finish and the hardware.

Can you paint over stained wood cabinets?

Yes. We clean, degloss and prime first so the paint bonds and lasts. That prep is most of the job.

Can I keep using my kitchen while you work?

Mostly, yes. [Describe how the kitchen is used during the job: doors off for X days, boxes done on site, etc.]

Can you reuse my existing hardware holes?

Usually. In the design studio we suggest pulls that match common hole spacing. If you want a different size, we can fill and re-drill.

How long does a kitchen take?
